Leroy deployed to Iraq today. After receiving his weapon at 10:30 last night and going through final processing, he and the rest of the troops were bussed to the airbase at 2:30. Kristen was able to be with him until he got on the bus. He was in good spirits and glad the waiting for deployment was over.
The troops were told they would fly directly from the Fort Campbell to a location in Europe and from there to Saudia Arabia.
Using Google Earth you can see the camp. The camp is on the southwest edge of the airport. To find it first search for Baghdad International Airport and once there then search for Camp Striker. Searching first for Camp Striker doesn't work.

Blessings to Pvt. Leroy and family! We're waiting to hear about our son's deployment from Ft. Campbell -- to Kandahar, we believe.
