Deployment Day One

Leroy called Kristen last night from Leipzig, Germany. Leroy said it was a long flight, but he was able to watch the new Harry Potter movie and Bourne Ultimatum. Kristen collects shot glasses so Leroy bought her a couple in Germany. This morning they left at 5:30 for Kuwait .
Kristen called at 2:55 p.m. Leroy has now arrived in Kuwait. It was a 2 hour bus ride from the airport to the base where he will be stationed for 4 days. Then he will move into Iraq.
Leroy called from Kuwait at 3:30. It was good to hear his voice. He is in good spirits but has a bad headache. All that traveling would give me one too. He is at Udairi Training Range.
When he talked with Linda, he said it was neat to see the Alps as they flew over. Kuwait "looks like Arizona ... lots of sand and rolling tumble weed." Information about Udairi (Camp Buehring) can be found at http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/facility/udairi.htm
He will be at Udairi for 4 days and then move into Iraq.
