- he is feeling much better today after getting 10 hours of sleep
- met his roommate (Thompson) - he used to hang out with him at Fort Campbell before they deployed
- Iraq is very different from Kuwait - not so much desert, more palm trees
- in a few days they will be taking a helicopter ride west of Baghdad to a firing range - he is looking forward to this
- in about one month they are moving east of Baghdad
- he doesn't have his daily schedule yet
- the food is much better than in the states and much better then in Kuwait
- when the sgts. were checking over the items they brought, Leroy was missing a couple and one of the sgts was giving him a hard time until the other said this private is in human resources and could "lose" leave papers, the sgt then backed off
- one sgt took him aside and gave him a pep talk, he felt much better after that (Staff Sgt. Mitchell)
- he walks 2 miles everyday from his barracks to his work (asked if he could requistion a jeep and he just laughed)
- he uses up a 500 minute phone card with two calls to the states (500 minutes international isn't the same as 500 minutes ld on the states)
- it is 45 F today
- he has a nice room
- he has found the px on base and hangs out with friends there
Thanks for keeping Leroy and Kristin in your prayers

Hey Leroy,
It's 1:20 am here-you should be having breakfast about now! I had no idea it was cold there! It will be 58 here in Milan tomorrow (Mon)and 72 in St Louis! All 6-10" of our snow from last w/e is melted. Keep up the good spirits and know we are praying for both you and Kristen. Love, hugs, and prayers, Aunt Dianne and the rest of the gang!
Hi Leroy,
I talked to your Dad this afternoon. I've been wanting to send you an e-mail, but haven't known how to do it. We pray for you together as a family every day, and other times throughout the day. James is finishing up wrestling season. David is in the middle of basketball season. His team lost their first game and won the next 4. Today's game was exciting. His team won in the last second. David made 6 points a week ago, but not any today. Rachael is doing okay, but had some seizures this week. Her kidney function is stable. My school had a tragedy last Monday. An arsonist accomplished what was attempted last Dec 12. This time 10 classrooms were destroyed! It's terrible, but the community is pulling together to have a new school ready for students on Monday. Our school district had a couple of closed buildings, so there was one we could move into. This week we plan to put together a "care package" for you. Your dad said to get a box from the post office, so I'll do that Tuesday... and hopefully mail it out then, too. Our family has not been good about letters to you, but we'll get better!
Love, Aunt Chris
