Deployment Day 3

Leroy called from Kuwait at 10:30 our time. While on the firing range, he saw his first camel. They were just meandering through the range while the soldiers were firing. They will have a Rose Bowl party at 12:30. He has met soldiers from Britain, Poland, Scotland, and other areas. They all speak English. The joke is if they like you they will speak English, otherwise they will speak their own language. The troops were given free phone calls today. Everything is printed in English and Arabian. The temps are between 60 - 70 during the day and down to the 30's - 40's during the night. He wishes he had a blanket, but is too lazy to pull out his sleeping bag (sure does sound like Leroy). They sleep on cots in a tent with a wood floor (he says he like sleeping on a cot). Leroy says some of the weird stuff is watching a live football game from the U.S. in the early morning hours, being able to see as far as the eye can see in the dessert, the food (there are some fast food places such as Burger King, Starbucks, and others where he can get "American food"). They celebrated the New Year with a party put on by the British. Leroy said his group was so tired they went to bed early (that doesn't sound like Leroy). He is looking forward to the move to Baghdad when he can do some "real army work." He is in good spirits and sounding great. His gives his love to all of his family and friends.
